Our favourite boat trips

The RIB Paloma at anchor over a sandy bottom in turquoise water, Saint-Martin

The north coast

  1. Grand CaseCruise along the bay of the island's gourmet village.
  2. Creole Rock or Petite PlageSnorkelling in a protected nature reserve, or a small quiet beach nearby.
  3. Anse MarcelA sheltered bay where you'll often spot sea turtles.

Fuel: about €40 to €80, depending on the version

Longer version: on a full day and if the sea allows, carry on to Pinel for lunch on the beach, then Tintamarre and its turtles.

Pinel Island Tintamarre

The RIB's bow sun pad, anchored off a white-sand beach lined with palms, Saint-Martin

The west coast beaches

  1. Baie RougeThe first beach on the way, to take in from the water.
  2. Plum BayThe cruise carries on along Terres Basses, past cliffs and villas.
  3. La SamannaOne of the island's finest spots: drop anchor at the end of Baie Longue for a swim, then the sunset.

Fuel: about €30 to €50

At anchor off Meads Bay, Anguilla: the helm and bow of the RIB, the long white-sand beach and its palm trees

Anguilla

  1. Rendezvous BayLong and calm, facing Saint-Martin.
  2. Meads BaySoft sand and restaurants for lunch.
  3. Little BayA tiny cove under the cliffs, by boat only.
  4. Shoal Bay EastAmong the best beaches in the world.

Fuel: about €70 to €100

Good to know: the crossing is picked when you book, as a full day, and confirmed case by case. Clearance happens at Road Bay, through a local yacht agent, and is yours to arrange and pay for. Sandy Island and Prickly Pear are shallow: anchoring is not allowed, you moor on a buoy, and only with a professional captain at the helm.

Anguilla for the day

Paloma, a Salpa Soleil 26, at anchor in a cove in Saint-Martin

The coves next door

  1. Friar's BayA beach and restaurants where locals go, for lunch with your feet in the sand.
  2. Happy BayA quiet beach of fine sand, sheltered from the wind, easiest to reach by boat.

The plus: a few minutes from the marina, these sheltered, fine-sand coves are the best option when the sea is rough, and an easy half-day boat tour.

Book your boat trip

The calendar shows what is actually free. On a free slot you book and sign straight away, with nothing to wait for. On the others you send a request and pay nothing until we confirm.

Which boat?
Where to?

Ten on board, children and any captain included. For a larger group, write to us: we can raise the limit depending on the boat.

The skipper must be 30+ or have held the licence for 5 years. No licence? You can still go out with an independent captain, whom you hire and pay directly.

On a free slot, the deposit is paid right after signing. On a slot marked on request, nothing is charged until we confirm.

Questions

Booking and payment

How do I book?

Use the form above: it opens WhatsApp with your request. We confirm availability, you send us the required documents, sign the rental terms online and pay 30% up front through a secure link. The balance is paid before you leave the dock.

Can I cancel?

Yes. More than 3 days before your trip, the 30% is refunded. Within 3 days, it's kept. If you don't show up, the full price is due.

What if the weather is bad?

If it isn't safe to go out, we move your day or refund you in full. During a cyclone watch or tropical storm warning, the trip is cancelled automatically, with the same choice.

Security deposit and insurance

How does the security deposit work?

Before departure we place a hold on your card: €2,400 for One Life 29, €2,900 for Paloma. It isn't charged. It's released within 7 days of your return if the boat comes back in good order.

What can be deducted from it?

Minor damage, lost equipment (anchor, fenders, life jackets), exceptional cleaning, late return (€150 per hour after 15 minutes) and unpaid fuel. We show you photos and the quote or invoice, and refund any difference.

And if there is serious damage?

It's declared to the boat's insurer and you pay the deductible: up to €7,200 for One Life 29 or €8,700 for Paloma, or the repair cost if lower. A tropical storm, cyclone or hurricane carries its own deductible: 10% of the boat's insured value, €11,496.50 for One Life 29 and €12,775 for Paloma, in every case. If the rules weren't followed (night sailing, alcohol, outside the zone, unregistered driver, more than 10 on board), insurance doesn't cover it and the full cost is yours.

Are passengers insured?

The boat is insured, but injuries and personal belongings aren't covered during the rental. Take out travel insurance that covers water activities.

Renting with a captain

I don't have a boating licence. Can I still rent?

Yes, with an independent professional captain whom you hire and pay directly. We can give you contacts of licensed captains; you agree the fee with them. Their fee is separate from the boat rental.

Who is responsible when a captain drives?

You remain the renter. The security deposit, the deductible, fuel and fees apply exactly as if you were driving. The captain is registered as skipper on the check-out form, signs it, and has their own professional insurance.

Can a friend drive instead of me?

Only the person registered as skipper on the check-out form may drive. If your friend meets the conditions (licence, 30+ or 5 years of licence), we register them at departure.

On the water

Which licence do I need?

A French coastal licence or a foreign licence valid for this engine power. The skipper must be 30 or older, or have held the licence for more than 5 years. Bring two IDs and a proof of address.

How is fuel charged?

It isn't included. We read the fuel used on the engine display before and after, and bill it at €1.60 per litre. As a guide, count about €30 to €50 for the west coast, €40 to €80 for the north coast and €70 to €100 for Anguilla. Consumption can triple between gentle cruising and full throttle. Normal engine use is 5 h for a full day; beyond that, €30 per extra hour.

Where can we go?

Anywhere around Saint-Martin: Grand Case, Creole Rock, Anse Marcel, Pinel, Tintamarre, Baie Rouge, La Samanna. Pinel, Creole Rock and Tintamarre are inside the nature reserve, where you moor on the buoys only. Anguilla is picked when you book, as a full day, and confirmed case by case; the clearance fees and taxes are yours. Sandy Island and Prickly Pear are shallow: anchoring is never allowed there, you moor on a buoy, and only with a professional captain at the helm. You must be back before dark.

Can we be more than 10?

The boats are approved for 14 and 15 people, but for comfort and safety we take up to 10 by default. If your group is bigger, ask us before booking.

Kids and pets?

Kids are welcome and count as passengers: tell us their weight so we bring the right life jackets. Pets aren't allowed.
